Italian whisky made with malted barley, malted rye and malted wheat! ALBA (which is Italian for ‘dawn’ and also Scottish Gaelic for ‘Scotland’) is aged for three years in Sicilian Marsala casks before a finishing period in casks that previously held peated whisky from Islay. The nose is quite surprising, with soft peat, malty notes and a winey profile coming from its maturation, showing aromas of summer berries. Although you can say it is a young whisky, this expression is more easy-drinking than the other 3-year-old release from PUNI (Nova). Slightly smoky, mineral & earthy with licorice, pepper and roasted walnuts and dark berries.
