Old Grand Dad Bourbon Whiskey is a beloved bourbon renowned for its high rye content in the mash, imparting a spicy kick on the palate. Interestingly, during Prohibition, Old Grand-Dad was produced by the American Medicinal Spirits Co., a pharmaceutical company, and was among the few distilled spirits allowed to be prescribed as medicine.

The legacy of Old Grand-Dad traces back to its founder, Basil Hayden, a distinguished distiller who crafted a bourbon whiskey with a higher percentage of rye. This unique recipe was passed down through generations, with Basil Hayden’s son and grandson continuing the tradition of fine distillation. It was Colonel R.B. Hayden, the third-generation distiller, who honored his grandfather’s legacy by christening their renowned whiskey “Old Grand-Dad.”
