The Francoli family distillery in Ghemme, Italy, has existed since 1875 and is one of the largest and best-known distilleries in Piedmont. It was the first grappa distillery to produce grappa without harming the environment and ensuring a CO2-neutral balance. The carbon dioxide emissions produced during distillation are offset by reforestation of the tropical rainforest in Costa Rica. For example, the heat for the distillation process is obtained from plant-based fuels. The company is also involved in the “Impatto Zero” project and has acquired a protected area of 340,000 square meters in the forests of Costa Rica.
Luigi Francoli Grappa Oro di Barolo Riserva is an exquisite grappa distilled from fresh pomace of the noble Nebbiolo grape. The pomace comes from some of the most renowned vineyards in Piedmont, including Barolo, La Morra, Serralunga d’Alba, Monforte d’Alba and Verduno, and is brought to Francoli immediately after pressing. After a short resting period, the grappa matures for 5 years in carefully selected Slovenian oak barrels and Limousin oak barriques.
This grappa is limited to 1,000 bottles.
