La Scolca is the first estate to bottle Gavi del Comune di Gavi. Gavi dei Gavi(R) established a new level of quality in Italian white wines. The name was trademarked in 1966. Family run since 1919, 5th generation winemaker, Chiara Soldati is now the face of the estate and a respected “woman in wine.” La Scolca is made with 100% estate-grown fruit on 50 HA of Cortese vineyards in Rovereto and 3HA of Pinot Nero vineyards in Monferrato. The wine is made with high-density plantings, low yields, green harvests, hand-harvested fruit, modern temperature-controlled facilities, natural yeasts, and no sulfites.
Tasting Notes:
The most traditional Gavi is vinified from grapes of exuberant young vineyards located in the heart of Rovereto of Gavi, place worldwide known as the “Gran Cru of Gavi”; their perfectly balanced aging lends the wine its typical fresh, dry taste.
