This rum is distilled on the mainland of Guatemala. This is followed by the first phase of maturation. The wooden barrels containing the distillate are stored under the Caribbean sun for several years.
Due to the relatively high temperatures, the maturing process takes place relatively quickly. The rum quickly absorbs a lot of aroma and character from the wood of the barrel.
This rum is then subjected to a second maturation in a slightly cooler French climate, using former Cognac barrels.
