Codigo 1530 Tequila is a premium brand based in Amatitan, a city in the Jalisco region of Mexico. This brand is known for its high-quality, artisanal production methods and commitment to producing exceptional tequila. The name “Codigo 1530” refers to an ancient code that establishes the specific methods of tequila production in the Los Bajos region of Jalisco to ensure quality and integrity of production.
The Codigo 1530 Barrel Strength Tequila is produced to the same quality standards and with similar care as other variants of the brand. The starting point is 100% blue Weber agave, which is carefully selected and harvested at optimum ripeness. The agave hearts, called pinas, are cooked in traditional stone ovens to extract sugar and flavors. After cooking, the agave is ground and the juice is fermented with a yeast strain specially developed by Codigo, which converts sugar into alcohol and produces an aromatic liquid. This is followed by double distillation in small copper stills to refine the aromas.
A special feature of Codigo 1530 Barrel Strength is its maturation in French white oak barrels for over two years, which gives the tequila a special depth, complexity and richness.
