Produced by the revered Camarena family in the iconic distilling town of Arandas, Casco Viejo Tequila is an outstanding entry-level tequila. Blending tradition and modernism, the family operates the same estate grounds theyve worked since the 1830s, while employing a patented production process called Zero D which integrates recycling into all aspects of the tequila-making process.
Casco Viejo is made entirely from Blue Weber agave grown in the Los Altos region of Jalisco; this highland plateau, around 7,000 above sea level, is widely regarded as one of the top agave producing environments in Mexico by virtue of its iron- and clay-rich red soil, hot days of sun exposure and cooling breezy nights. Production is vertically integrated, as the Camarena family owns 18 fields of agave. The agave is cooked in traditional brick furnaces, fermented in wooden vats and distilled twice in traditional copper pot stills.
