The Wine:
The 2023 season at Tolpuddle was the coldest on record, coupled with a wet winter that impacted flowering, leading to smaller bunches and reduced yields. While this meant less wine overall, the cooler conditions benefited the Pinot Noir, with the latter part of the vintage offering near-perfect weather for fruit development through to harvest.

“This release of Tolpuddle Pinot Noir is the best I’ve seen. New clones and a reduction in whole bunch ferments (down to 25% for 2023) contribute to its finesse and seamless flow. It showcases the vibrant, aromatic freshness typical of Pinot Noir, with notes of raspberries and strawberries evolving into darker cherry fruit, complex savory spices, and firm, structural tannins. The wine reflects the cool season’s fruit density and depth, offering both poise and approachability now, with even greater potential with time.”
