First produced in 1960, Bin 389 exemplifies Penfolds’ red wine style. It is fresh and generous, with ripe dark chocolate and dark berry flavors, fine-grained tannins, and subtle new oak notes. Matured for 18 months in American oak hogsheads, including some previously used for Grange and Bin 707, this wine has excellent aging potential, with the best vintages improving over decades.
TASTING NOTES: Notes of ripe black fruits and red fruit compote dominate, while the sweetness of cocoa powder imparts depth to the substantial mid-palate.
