From a single block of just 15 short rows that descend down a southeast facing slope at Moppa at the northern end of the Barossas western edge. The name we have given this wine a neat connection between the row count and the exact same number of gold mining site claims made on the vineyard property in the latter part of the 19thcentury.
The site is one of sparse topsoils intersected by clumps of ironstone and quartz. Dry grown, the vineyard producing an extremely low yield of small berried, thick skinned fruit typically measured in kilograms rather than tonnes per acre. The nose is beautifully perfumed with cherry/currant notes. The particular character of the site adds a distinctive flint/mineral and kitchen spice line through the finely structured palate of intense black fruits wrapped around elegant, long lines of tannin. Approximately 1,000 bottles made. Drink now to 2040.
