The historic Vasse Felix Cabernet Sauvignon, an estate treasure in Margaret River, was the region’s pioneering cabernet sauvignon, crafted by Vasse Felix in 1972 and produced annually since. Composed mainly of cabernet sauvignon (88%), primarily from Houghton clone material, this blend often incorporates merlot, petit verdot, or cabernet franc. Following traditional vinification and maturation in new (40-55%) and seasoned French barriques for 16 to 18 months, it presents an intensely aromatic style with blackcurrant, cedar, and herb garden aromas, generous flavors, and fine-grained tannins.

This wine showcases the unique regional characteristics of Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon, embodying the site-specific traits derived from Vasse Felix vineyards, particularly those in Wilyabrup. VINTAGE DESCRIPTION

Another text-book vintage in Margaret River with consistent, almost rhythmic temperature patterns throughout the ripening season, resulting in excellent balance and physiological ripeness of fruit. Reasonable yields were obtained despite a handful of blocks being exposed to heavy storms in spring reducing their cropping potential, but overall quality is excellent.
