Very dense and concentrated the palate delivers mouth-filling flavours of liquorice, ripe blackberry, plum, toasty oak and spice. Slightly dryish, firm but fine-grained tannins. Long aftertaste of liquorice, ripe blackberry, toasty oak and spice.
The fruit for the Alte Reben (German for old vines) is sourced from a single vineyard planted in 1899 located in the Marananga district. Matured in 40% new and 60% one-year-old French oak for 21 months with a total production of 520 cases.
