Pasote tequila comes from the Mexican state of Jalisco and is produced in Jesus Maria by master distiller Felipe J. Camarena.
The name “Pasote” stands for the courageous spirit of the Aztec warriors. They usually celebrated their victories and rituals by drinking agave juice. Pasote tequila is also distilled from the blue weaver agave.
To produce it, the agave hearts are baked in traditional ovens and crushed using a mechanical tahona. 40% pure rainwater and 60% spring water are used for distillation. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks.
The bottle designs of the Pasote tequilas feature drawings dedicated to the sun god. The Pasote Blanco shows the Aztec sun god Tonatiuh – the patron saint of warriors. The bottles are handmade by a family of glass artisans in Mexico.
