DOMAINE TAUPENOT-MERME Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru 1988

Romain Taupenot represents the ninth generation of the renowned Burgundy domaine, Taupenot-Merme. While the winery’s roots trace back to the 17th century, its current name is derived from both of Romain’s parents. Romain’s journey began with childhood involvement in the vineyards, followed by a career in finance that took him to Paris. Eventually, he returned home to take the reins of the domaine alongside his sister, Virginie. The family practices organic farming across nearly 14 hectares in both Cte de Nuits and Cte de Beaune. Romain humorously refers to himself as a “lazy winemaker,” emphasizing his preference for spending more time in the vineyards and less in the cellar.
